If you’re looking to remodel your kitchen,
bathroom or other room in your home, there are several ways we
can help. We can act as your designer and general contractor, by
managing the project from conception to completion, or offer our
design services by designing custom cabinets for any size
project you may have.
- Stop by our showroom and/or make an appointment.
If you want to spend time exploring ideas with a
professional, please schedule an appointment with one of our
Certified Kitchen Designers. Your initial consultation at
Designer Kitchens is complimentary and will provide you the
personal attention you deserve. By visiting our showroom you
will be able to see several different styles of kitchen
vignettes and cabinet door styles and finishes that are
displayed in our showroom.
- Before the meeting.
Here are some suggestions to make the most of your
consultation:
- Gather photos and other information from magazines or the internet
of styles and products you like. These will help you and your designer
create the room of your dreams.
- Talk to your family members and friends and ask them
for their input.
- Establish an investment range that works for your
family. Remodeling a 200-square foot kitchen can range
anywhere from $30,000 to $100,000 or more depending on
your choices. After a range has been established the
designer is able to design the project selecting
products that work well with your needs.
- If you are building a new home and working with an
architect, please bring in a copy of the floor plan to
the meeting.
- Home Appointment:
The designer will visit your home to evaluate the space that
needs to be remodeled. Meeting at the home allows the
designer to get a feel for your lifestyle so the new room’s
design fits well with the existing architecture of the
house.
If the meeting takes place at the designer's showroom, think about measuring your kitchen ahead of time and bring the measurements to the meeting.
At this point, the designer should have the necessary information to come up with some rough concepts and a ballpark estimate.
- Refining the design and estimate.
The next meeting will take place at the showroom where the
designer will discuss the design concept and the project
estimate based on the discussion at the jobsite. At this
point, you will probably be excited about discussing the
possibilities for your project: "What if you did a peninsula
instead of an island or you might want to try a different
style of cabinet door." If the overall concept and estimate
works with what you had anticipated, the next step will be a
retainer fee to continue detailed work on your project.
Once the retainer fee is paid, your designer will work with
you to modify and finalize the design and product
specifications, including tile, plumbing fixtures,
countertop material, etc. Your designer will guide you
toward products and design solutions that will help you stay
within your estimated project range and fit well with your
style and personality
The timing of this process is dependent on how quickly
decisions are made.
- Signing the contract.
Once the design is perfected and you're ready for your new
kitchen, bath or other room to take shape, the final
contract will be signed. The retainer fee will now be
credited toward the cost of your project.
- Product ordering and construction>
After all decisions are made and the contract is signed,
all products are ordered. Once the products are received,
which can range from 8 – 12 weeks after ordering, the
construction and installation process begins.
Design Only
Steps 1-4 will
remain the same. In the “design only” process any time spent
working on the project (whether it is designing, meeting or
product selection) will be charged at an hourly rate. After the
design is complete, you will receive a complete design binder
that you can use to communicate information to your contractor.
